OpenTV Chosen by DT, Turkey's Sole Satellite Provider, for HD Digital Platform
OpenTV Corp. (Nasdaq: OPTV), a leading provider of enabling technologies for advanced digital television services, today announced that it has extended its relationship with DIGITURK, the first and only digital direct-to-home satellite network operator in Turkey, for the deployment of OpenTV's High Definition Personal Video Recorder (PVR) technology. The High Definition solution leverages OpenTV's advanced digital television software, OpenTV Core™ 2.0, and OpenTV PVR 2.0. The launch is expected for the first half of 2007.
The deployment of OpenTV's software and services is expected to enable DIGITURK to deliver an array of digital television services to DIGITURK's 900,000 interactive subscribers. These services will include Push VOD, which will enable subscribers to select, download, and store feature films and television shows directly on the set-top box hard drive. The Push VOD application will be updated frequently with a comprehensive choice of programming. The DIGITURK solution will also include an advanced PVR programming guide application, enabling viewers to watch and record multiple channels at the same time. DIGITURK expects to initially deploy OpenTV's software on Pace PVR set-top boxes, with ****** providing conditional access security.
