TVE promises massive internet archive
TVE promises massive internet archive Spain's national public broadcaster Radio Televisión Española (RTVE) plans to offer 1 million hours of its in-house productions on the internet, free.
This new multimedia offering will be on demand and in the clear for users.
Luis Fernández, RTVE's president (pictured, left), said: "Making news on the internet being a broadcaster doesn't just mean to upload the news but making a truly multimedia information portal. With all the power coming from television, radio, texts and photographs the editorial department of Interactive Media of this new division will create such a site. And in every case there will be an option to choose the most adequate format in order to tell a story."
Fernández has bet on RTVE's new era of television, the third one according to him once the monopoly and the birth of Spain's private national channels is overcome.
"This new era is characterized by the birth of digital channels and the coming of new technologies allowing users different ways of choosing and consuming."
