burrp.com launches online TV guide for India

Social lifestyle listings portal burrp.com has announced the launch of burrp!TV.

This is an online television guide that offers a view of what is playing across TV channels in India. burrp!TV will be an extension to the portal’s existing offering that currently comprises local lifestyle listings.

The portal has several features. It offers users the ability to search television listings for show names, character names, channel or genre.

One also has the ability to view channel schedules 14 days ahead of time, There is also the functionality to set SMS reminders before a show is about to commence.

Then there is a browser for movies playing across all television channels. The site is also accessible on mobile phones through GPRS.

The company says that it has roped in media networks such as Star, Sony, Zee and Discovery as well as other independent channels such as Zoom to support the platform with content.

Zoom business head MK Anand says, "Considering ZoOm was India's first glamour and entertainment channel, it makes perfect sense for us to establish ties with an exciting new platform like Burrp!TV. It offers content providers like us a window into user preferences in an engaging new way.”

Currently, burrp!TV displays schedules of 14 channels. The company is in talks with national as well as regional channels and aims to tie-up all Indian television channels by the year end.

burrp.com director of commercial Rajeev Sathe says, “burrp!TV with its suite of personalization tools, will be focused towards providing channels a direct route to engage a relevant audience while optimally leveraging this unique platform to promote shows, launches and drive user interactions."
