Liberty provides strategy insights
By Chris Dziadul CABLE CONGRESS 2008 – MADRID. Contrasting pictures of the UK and Spanish markets were provided at this year’s Cable Congress by Neil Berkett and Richard Alden, the respective CEOs of Virgin Media and ONO. He added that it is a little known fact that Liberty Global currently owns no fewer than 25 channels in Europe, and this gives it access and leverage in the market. Liberty Global has 2 million digital and 10.5 million analogue subscribers in Europe and is rolling out digital TV, HD and PVR services. All are now offered internet access at speeds of 20-30Mbps and will soon see this raised up to 100Mbps.
