Hughes introduces Managed Broadband VPN Services
Offers carrier agnostic bundled Terrestrial and Satellite connectivity services
Hughes the world's leading provider of satellite broadband services, Managed Network Services and products for businesses, governments and consumers introduced a new VPN offering called the ‘Managed Broadband VPN’ as a part of its Managed Network Services portfolio.
Managed Broadband VPN is a fully managed, cost-effective VPN solution designed on a dual medium of Terrestrial and Satellite to deliver connectivity services with the ease of ‘One Window Interaction’ and complete end-to-end monitoring and management capabilities.
This bundled solution offers enterprise customers high reach and broadband speed at competitive rates and is ideal for organizations that need to connect a large number of sites. The new service by Hughes effectively blends both satellite broadband and wireline technologies like DSL into a fully integrated Managed Network Service that offers the most cost-effective VPN service for enterprises at every location translating into improved performance, higher employee productivity, and greater customer satisfaction.
The service is currently being launched in two flavors. The first flavor uses either a terrestrial or satellite medium at an organization’s location depending on the feasibility & reliability criteria. The second flavor uses both the terrestrial and satellite medium at each and every location in order to provide a very high uptime still remaining cost-effective.
“While IP VPN market in India is estimated to be around US$3.86bn in 2008 and growing at a rate of 32.7%, the challenges faced by distributed enterprises with respect to cost-effective connectivity while networking large number of points of presence and lack of skilled IT manpower to manage these networks still remains a reality. Hughes’ Optimised VPN Service plugs this very gap in the market”, said K. Krishna, AVP Marketing, Hughes India. “The response from verticals like retail and BFSI has been extremely positive and I am confident that Hughes will be able to capture a sizeable chunk of this market”, he added.
Over the last year, Hughes has successfully covered 200,000 sites in US and Europe with this service and gained significant expertise and understanding of the market.
“One of feedback that we got from the market was that customers wanted us to build redundancies on individual sites- a trend that was hereto uncommon. As a result we are offering our customers a service whereby they can choose to build redundancies on individual sites, thus targeting an uptime of 99.99% per site”, said K. Krishna, AVP Marketing, Hughes India.
The service also employs the highest security standards such as IPSec and AES and comes with turnkey network deployment and implementation, proactive fault management for both the network and the customer premises equipment, performance management of the applications and a nation wide on-site support and customer care.
