*** wants level playing field for pay-TV
Mumbai (PTI): UK based Digital pay-TV technology solutions provider, *** wants Indian Telecom Regulatory Authority to provide a level playing field and simplified guidelines to make it more service-oriented from the subscriber's point of view.
"We are constantly pressing the Indian regulatory authority (TRAI) to provide a level playing field and simplify the guidelines to make it more service-oriented from the point of view of the subscriber rather than operator-oriented or technology-oriented," said chief Engineer, *** Asia-Pacific Paul Jackson, told PTI from Hong Kong.
"*** has consistently pressed TRAI for level playing field regulation across pay TV platforms in 17 written submissions over the past four years, and to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) for the same since 2002," Jackson said.
He said the vast majority of pay TV subscribers do not ultimately care whether their broadcaster scheduled, live TV is delivered to their home over a cable, satellite, terrestrial, Telco or any other network and care even less about the technology used to deliver it - e.g. IPTV or not.
They just want good content, delivered reliably, at a great price."
*** has recently submitted details of specific recommendations in its Response to TRAI's Consultation Paper on Restructuring of Cable TV Services, he said.
