Eutelsat Secures Launch Insurance Through 2011
Eutelsat has secured the “largest insurance package ever placed for a satellite operator,” Willis Inspace announced May 7.
The package provides guaranteed premium rates for all the satellites Eutelsat will deploy throughout the next three years. The first satellite to be launched under the contract will be Hot Bird 9, scheduled for launch in the third quarter. “The insurance package structured for Eutelsat is the largest package ever placed for a satellite operator and Willis Inspace is delighted to have delivered this,” Xavier Lacombe, deputy managing director of Willis Inspace, said in a statement. “We have placed the cover with more than 20 international space insurers, providing Eutelsat with a long-term, competitive and flexible scheme.”
