Springer and Philips plan personalised TV

Axel Springer and Philips have established an alliance for the creation of personalised TV services. TV Digital Personal runs on the Philips Aprico electronic programme guide with Axel Springer contributing editorial information services.
TV Digital Personal is being made available for TV devices, digital video recorders, PCs and mobile devices. It manages both TV content and targeted advertising. Viewers will be able to create ‘virtual’ personalised channels that reflect personal TV preferences and viewing behaviour
In part TV Digital Personal will compete with Gemstar-TV Guide’s GUIDE Plus+ Interactive Program Guide (IPG), though at first glance the Philips system is significantly more sophisticated.
TV Digital Personal will be unveiled by Philips and Springer later this year
