Belgacom scores Jupiler League rights

Belgacom has secured the broadcast rights for the Belgian Jupiler Football League. The telecom operator will pay E44.7 million to the Profliga for the rights to show the first division matches for the 2008-11 seasons. Belgacom subsidiary Skynet made the bid, and will work with the broadcasters VRT in Flanders and RTBF in Wallonia on the free-to-air broadcasts.

The operator is still working on finding a production partner for the broadcasts. Belgacom TV’s IPTV channel 11 will continue to show the matches, with new interactive services planned
