Verimatrix wins TeliaSonera
Chris Forrester, on 24-06-2008
Software-based CA supplier Verimatrix has won a more-than-useful contract with a leading Nordic telco for its IPTV service.
Verimatrix has supplied its Video Content Authority System (VCAS) which will be used by TeliaSonera’s Telia Digital TV service. Telia Digital TV supplies 70 channels as well as a 24-hour VOD movie library. Commercial terms were not disclosed.
Janne Yli-Äyhö, senior vice president and head of TV, Content and Digital Home, TeliaSonera said: “We needed a content security solution that we could install quickly and cost-effectively, and given our rapidly-growing subscriber base, it had to have proven scalability. There’s no question Verimatrix can deliver iron-clad security for our broadcast and on-demand content. Plus, we were impressed with their ease of integration with our existing platform components.”
Verimatrix’s VCAS for IPTV is a wholly software-based solution that the company claims eliminates the vulnerabilities related to smart card-based architectures. “VCAS for IPTV is well-suited to accommodate Telia Digital-TV’s 300,000-plus subscribers,” said Verimatrix.
“Our latest deployment with TeliaSonera is a testament to our product innovation and customer care support that enables us to easily respond to their content security needs,” said Steve Oetegenn, chief sales and marketing officer, Verimatrix. “Telia Digital-TV is helping to advance IPTV services throughout Europe as they continue to deploy leading-edge technologies.”
