WOD adds UTV & Caracol
The New Media Group is adding Spanish-language and Indian channels to its World On-Demand internet TV platform, agreeing carriage deals with UTV Software Communications and Caracol TV. UTV will add its Hindi movies channel UTV Movies and its English-language business news channel UTVi to World On-Demand on August 1. The channels will be available in Japan, Australia and New Zealand.
With its bouquet of five channels having launched within six months in India, UTV Global Broadcasting is now focusing on the South Asian diaspora overseas. The channels will be bundled in Community Packages intended for the subcontinent community subscribers to World On-Demand, as well as in the World News Pack and Asian Culture Pack.
Randy McGraw, President of TNMG, said: “ This offering really is also a good way for TNMG to take our message of “cross cultural content” into multiple communities. Our subscribers from other communities are sure to like UTV’s channels.”
TNMG has also agreed a distribution agreement with Colombia’s largest broadcaster, Caracol TV, for its Caracol International channel, launching this month for Japanese subscribers only.
Yuka Sasaki, Senior Manager of Business Development for TNMG, said: “The Spanish speaking population in East Asia, as well as the many local populations interested in Spanish language and culture, are vastly underserved. The addition of an amazing broadcaster like Caracol to our IPTV bundle designed for this target audience really cements our effort to bring our community platform message to our audiences.”
