The discovery of “fault components” has led to a 2 day delay for the launch of BADR-6 and ProtoStar-1. Originally scheduled for July 4, the launch will not now take place until Monday July 7 to allow time to change certain components.
Arianespace boss Jean-Yves Le Gall told AFP that problems in the equipment that electronically connected the rocket to its ground equipment had been spotted during a routine check, and would be replaced. The work would take place within the final assembly building, with the two satellites in place, prior to the complete rocket being rolled out to its launch pad.
Le Gall said this delay would not impact other launches in the Ariane manifest this year. A total of 7 Ariane missions are planned for this year. The new launch is scheduled for 6.47pm-7.21pm in Kourou (9.47pm-10.21pm GMT).
