New investor for Romance TV
German investment company Merkur Thorhauer has acquired a 28.5% share in thematic channel Romance TV. This was announced by the channel’s parent company Mainstream Media, which until now held 100% of the shares. Financial details were not revealed. With the move, which still needs to be approved by the media authorities, the TV group founded by media entrepreneur Gottfried Zmeck takes on board an external partner for the first time. Merkur Thorhauer is a medium sized family owned company based in Liederbach near Frankfurt am Main, focusing on insurance sales and asset management, part of which are corporate investments. Romance TV’s schedule of romantic films, series and telenovelas is aimed at women aged from 30 years.
The channel, which was launched on Valentine’s Day (February 14), is available on pay-TV platforms via cable, satellite and ADSL. Mainstream Media also operates the thematic channels GoldStar TV, Heimatkanal and Hit 24, with an autumn launch planned for music channel Country Music Star TV.
