Taiwan's CTV Infotech selects Proxim Wireless equipment to deliver IPTV
August 12, 2008 - CTV Infotech, a Taiwanese subsidiary of Chinese Television Company, has selected WiMAX equipment from US firm Proxim Wireless to enable delivery of its wireless broadband triple-play service, including IPTV.
CTV Infotech's network reportedly consists of a combination of Proxim's Tsunami MP.11 and Tsunami MP.16 point-to-multipoint products, Tsunami GX point-to-point productsm and ORiNOCO AP-4000 access point equipment. CTV Infotech is also planning to deliver real-time news reporting capabilities and VoIP to the Taiwanese market.
"Our TV program production and broadcasting capabilities need to evolve as our network expands, so we strive to embrace new technologies that can help advance our services," said Mr. Nan-Hung Lin, General Manager at CTV Infotech. "We work with companies such as Proxim Wireless and [local partner] Smartway Digital to ensure that we continue to deliver state-of-the-art multimedia solutions to our audience and provide superior real-time information broadcasting."
