Amrita TV unveils special lineup for Onam festival

MUMBAI: Amrita TV is set to celebrate Onam, the mother of all festivals for Keralites, with its audiences. The Malayalam general entertainment channel (GEC) has announced a special lineup for the festival from 11 to 14 September.

The channel will air eight movies during the Onam festival, of which four - Halo, Ore Kadal, Don and Rathrimazha - are being showcased as world TV premiere. The other cinema are science fiction Bharathan (Suresh Gopi, Biju Menon), Moonamathiral (Jayram, Jyotirmayi) and classic Rathrimazha (Meera Jasmine, Vineeth).

While Hallo (Mohanlal) was one of the biggest recent box office grosser, Ore Kadal (Mammootty, Meera Jasmine) has been presented in 17 international film festivals and bagged a total of 47 Awards which include three international and five Kerala State Awards, claims the company.

Additionally, viewers will get to see a mix of family entertainers like Lion, Don, along with Rakiklipattu, Malayalam film's first all-female star cast (Tabu, Jyothika) directed by Priyadarshan.

The channel will also air interviews with celebrities including actor Suresh Gopi, Mohan Lal, Ommen Chandy (ex-CM, Kerala), music maestro M Jayachandran, playback singers Vijay Yesudas, Sujatha, Swetha, Roopa, actor Vidhubala, Prithivraj, Sandhya, Mohini KR Vijaya, Sukumari, Nalini, Jalaja, upcoming stars Sindhu Menon and Miss India 2007 Parvathy Omanakkuttan..

Among other highlights are Navya Nair’s special darshan of Haripad, Mannarshala and Chettikkulangara temples, half-hour comedy show with Undappakru and Thirakatha featuring action hero Prithvi Raj with 2006 national award winner Priyamani.
