N.a.g.r.a.v.i.s.i.o.n. moves into Iraqi mobile TV

Kudelski’s conditional access division N.a.g.r.a.v.i.s.i.o.n. is agreed a deal in Iraq, where the company will secure the first-ever Middle Eastern mobile TV DVB-H bouquet from Alsumaria TV.

Based on N.a.g.r.a.v.i.s.i.o.n.’s. MicroSD cards with embedded security, Alsumaria TV’s Mobision is now available throughout Iraq. Users will be able to store personal date including phots and music as well as recording and time-shifting mobile TV content. There will be 20 channels including Alsumaria TV and a new channel called Shakomo, as well as specialised channels for sports, news, economic news, cartoons, weather and music.

Any consumer with a certified DVB-H handset able to subscribe by inserting the Na.g.r.a.v.i.s.i.o.n. MicroSD card. Mobision will be available through all mobile outlets.

A statement from the companies said: “By introducing such an advanced technology into a fluctuating Iraqi market, Alsumaria TV not only positioned itself as one of the most high tech TV stations in the Arab world, always offering the best services, but also as a technology trend-setter providing unique audio-visual solutions to the wide audience.”

The statement continued: “Alsumaria TV is determined to bridge communication between Iraqis on one hand, and between Iraqis and the world on the other. The DVB-H is a brilliantly practical idea that will help Iraqis suffering from electricity cuts to follow up on news via their mobile phones while allowing them to be aware around the clock about the latest developments and updates in Iraq and around the World.”
