Orca takes your prints for IPTV
IPTV middleware and applications provider Orca Interactive has been showing off a new personalisation tool at IBC – fingerprint recognition.
A tie-up with input device (keyboards, remote controls) design and technology company Ruwido has led to a service which Orca claims “will provide viewers with one of the most personalized, interactive TV experience available on the IPTV market.”
The service, Voco, will enable automatic user distinction via each person's unique fingerprint, to allow operators and advertisers to provide more targeted services to niche audiences that best reflect an individual user’s interests and needs. Users will be able to create individual TV viewing profiles with options such as favourite channels and on-demand content and personalised PVR functions. The service will also ensure effective parental control.
Advertisers and operators “will benefit from strong revenue possibilities by further recognising each user’s personal characteristics and preferences as a means to offer specific services and a more engaging targeted advertising agenda,” said the company.
Voco will only be available over Orca’s IPTV middleware RiGHTv and content discovery solution Compass.
