Some US series will be available free of charge online in New Zealand for the first time, following a deal between Disney-ABC International Television and TVNZ.


A selection of the US distributor’s properties will become available on TVNZ’s online catch-up service, TVNZ ondemand, 12 hours after broadcast on TV2. Series joining the ad-supported on-demand service include Private Practice, Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Scrubs and Brothers & Sisters.

TVNZ ondemand launched 18 months ago and each month an average of 30,000 hours of television is watched. Content currently includes a mix of local, UK and Australian programming, as well as TVNZ’s news and current affairs broadcasts.
