TV Nova discusses digital plans

The Czech national commercial broadcaster TV Nova expects to launch a new channel in the first half of 2009.

The news was given by Petr Dvorak, the head of the CME-backed station, in a wide-ranging interview with the business daily HN.

He added that TV Nova would like to see a change in the law that would allow it more “compensatory” licences, such as the one for the new channel, in order to broadcast digitally.

TV Nova, along with its rival Prima TV, both signed up to the Czech digitalisation plan this summer.
