Catch-up TV is attracting more and more viewers in France. According to Médiamétrie’s latest Global TV study, 5.6 million viewers tried one catch-up TV offer among those available between April and May 2008.


The figure represents 40% growth compared to the 4 million regsistered by the end of 2007. More widely, 55% of French viewers have at least once followed a TV programme after its first TV broadcast. Whether it is with VCR or Catch-up TV such as Canal+ à la demande or M6 Replay,

Médiamétrie also says that nine per cent of French people aged 15+ have already watched live TV on their PC. Among them, Médiamétrie has made a classification into two categories : the “Télé-Streamers” who are mostly young men and represent 11% of the population and the “Télé-stockeurs”. Younger and less numerous (6.5 % of the population), they’re consuming videos stocked on their PC after they have missed the live broadcast.
