Pakistan approves 145 channels
Pakistan’s media authority has licensed 10 new satellite channels for distribution in the country. Additionally, Pakistan’s Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) says a further 145 cable licenses have been sanctioned by the regulator.
The authority is also endorsing a rapid digitisation of the country’s cable networks, and says it is taking “all positive steps” towards the further growth of electronic media in the country. Amongst the 10 new channels authorised is the nation’s first satellite TV channel devoted to health-related matters. A kids TV channel has also been granted landing rights.
