TF1 launches catch-up TV on IPTV

The French commercial broadcaster TF1 has finally launched its catch-up TV service MyTF1 on the IPTV boxes BBox from Bouygues Telecom. Other IPTV providers will follow.
MyTF1 is available free of charge to viewers with advertising footing the bill. About 3,000 programmes are available on demand and can easily be accessed by clicking on the OK button while watching the TF1 channel on the BBox.
Catch-up programmes will be available for a period of seven days after the original broadcast. BouyguesTelecom currently has 170,000 subscribers to its IPTV service.
TF1 is negotiating with otther IPTV providers to add the MyTF1 service to their platform.
TF1 also operates the VOD service TF1 Vision, which offers recent movies and other premium programming on a transactional basis.
Arris strikes Czech deal

The Czech cable operators Elsat, BKS Capital Partners, Self Servis and Kabelova Televize Koprivnice have deployed Arris’s DOCSIS 3.0 CMTS solution.
The move has been undertaken in co-operation with Lica, Arris’s value-added reseller, which is based in the Czech town of Nymburk.
According to Arris, around 1.2 million homes passed by cable in the Czech Republic are currently served by Elsat, BKS, Self Servis and the market leader UPC Czech Republic.
Time Warner Cable Launches Spanish Film Channel ‘VeneMovies’ in Los Angeles
Time Warner Cable has launched a 24 hour, commercial free film channel ‘VeneMovies’ in the city of Los Angeles. VeneMovies delivers the best of originally produced in Spanish films to its Hispanic audiences in the Los Angeles area.
VeneMovies is produced by SOMOSTV, dedicated to the development of Pay TV channels for the Hispanic Market.
VeneMovies offers the best selection of films from Latin America that includes Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and also Spain with attractive casting and urban stories that fit the taste of today’s film lovers.

Successful launch for Intelsat-14

An Atlas V rocket successfully launched the Intelsat-14 satellite from Cape Canavaral, Florida, this Monday (November 23). Space Systems/Loral said the satellite is performing post-launch maneuvers according to plan.
The satellite deployed its solar arrays as planned. Today, the satellite is scheduled to begin firing its main thruster in order to start maneuvering into geosynchronous orbit.
Intelsat14 will be located at 45 degrees West longitude and will provide communication services through its C- and Ku-band, serving Intelsat network and government customers throughout the Americas, Europe and Africa. The new satellite will replace Intelsat’s IS-1R satellite once it enters service.
The spacecraft also carries a hosted payload for the Internet Router in Space, or IRIS program, for Cisco, which expands on SS/L’s experience integrating hosted payloads on commercial satellites.
The Intelsat-14 was built by Space Systems Loral, as part of its LS-1300 line. With the launch of Intelsat 14, there are now 60 Space Systems/Loral satellites currently on orbit. (Picture courtesy of United Launch Alliance; photo by Pat Corkery)
